- Description
The Service Management and Control (SMC) Capacity Management Process is the business process responsible for ensuring that the capacity of IT services and the IT infrastructure is able to meet agreed capacity- and performance-related requirements in a cost-effective and timely manner. The purpose of Capacity Management is to provide a point of focus and management for all capacity and performance-related issues, relating to both services and resources, and to match the capacity of IT to the agreed business demands. Capacity Management considers all resources required to deliver an IT service, and is concerned with meeting both the current and future capacity and performance needs of the business.
