Applicability

This STANAG defines and specifies the protocols operating at the lower layers of the OSI model at each TACOMS Phase 1 interface. It provides the following information to implement a TACOMS Phase 1 interface

• physical and electrical/optical characteristics of the interface cable; and
• characteristics of the data link.

The specifications refer to applicable existing Base Standards (BSs), or to TACOMS-defined BSs which are developed by specifying changes to existing base standards.
