Applicability

This STANAG 4642 defines the protocols for the IP UTAP L9 in the WAS and LAS Network elements. User terminal access points in general are presented in figure 1-1, the IP UTAP L9 in figure 1-2 and in table 1-1. The figures and the table are depicted in the TACOMS Head STANAG 4637. In General M5 (the UTAP for radio networks) is out of the scope of this STANAG 4642. However, M5 profiles might refer to specific parts of this STANAG 4642.

In particular annex D User Service Affiliation - Authentication and IP Terminal Registration of this STANAG 4642 is fully applicable to UTAP M5. Other protocols related to M5 are specified in STANAG 4645 Radio Protocols.

Protocols related to UTAPs L6 and L7 are specified in STANAG 4641 ISDN Access Protocols.
