- Resupplying, maintaining, and issuing supplies or equipment are major activities during preparation. Repositioning of sustainment assets can also occur. During preparation, sustainment personnel at all levels take action to optimize means (force structure and resources) for supporting the operations plan. These actions include, but are not limited to, identification and preparation of bases, coordinating for host-nation support, and improving lines of communications.
