Description: Alliance personnel and units must be prepared to capture, detain, retain or hold individuals for a wide variety of reasons. This may include members of their military, a foreign or adversary force, civilians or other persons for specified operational reasons. The humane treatment of these individuals is of critical importance, in accordance with both domestic and international conventions and laws. In order to prepare for this eventuality during an operation, the processes, facilities, and C2 arrangements relating to detention must be practiced and readied. Especially important is whole force Captured Persons training, in order to ensure adherence to national and international legal requirements.
