Service providers with their own multicast capability shall provide a Rendezvous Point (RP) supporting the following IP multicast protocol standards.

• Multiprotocol Extensions for BGP-4 (RFC 4760:2007)
• Multicast Source Discovery Protocol (MSDP) (RFC 3618:2003)

Obligation: MANDATORY, Lifecycle: CURRENT

The following standards shall apply to multicast routing.

• IANA Guidelines for IPv4 Multicast Address Assignments (RFC 5771:2010)
• Administratively Scoped IP Multicast (RFC 2365:1998)
• Overview of the Internet Multicast Addressing Architecture (RFC 6308:2011)

Obligation: MANDATORY, Lifecycle: CURRENT

These standards shall apply for all IP interconnections.

• Host Extensions for IP Multicasting (RFC 1112:1989)
• Internet Group Management Protocol, Version 3 (RFC 3376:2002)
• Protocol Independent Multicast - Sparse Mode (PIM-SM): Protocol Specification (Revised) (RFC 7761:2016)
